Two Hundred and Fifteenth Position ]Video/Action[

[The feed flickers to show a medium sized hole in the ground of the Graveyard. The edge of the hem of a formerly pristine gown is stained by the dirt. Rue collapses, knees shaking weakly, with her disheveled black hair falling tangled with mud and grass while her other hand grips at her golden crown. She's still spitting out the the taste of death from her mouth, looking slightly alarmed as she turns to address the camera.

She just can't believe what close has that been like to be buried beneath the soil. How trapped she has been without any Prince rushing to her rescue, how she has to struggle to survive alone in the end. Because she has to return to Mytho who is waiting for his Princess in their real kingdom. Her. Rue is, however, proud, catching her breath, she asks with only a noticeable quiver.]

A-Ahiru... Fakir? Somebody?

(ooc; Action for whoever is around! Voice/Video to the others!).

[Snowy screen, then focus on some rifts in the sky.]

Krrzrrsttchtzz.

[These particular rifts look a bit red.]

Fzzzsrgkkrszzz.

[Then...red splats on the lens.]

MOUSE IS BLEEDING?!?

[Oh wait. The lens is wiped clean to tilt towards a now messy Mouse.]

UMBRELLAS TO ALL BATTLE STATIONS. NOW.

Mouse is pink! Pink! Messy sticky gooey pink! It smells!

CITIZENS DO YOUR DUTY. PATCH. PATCH. PATCH.

[Sob.]

Mouse is all wet...

[ooc: Those red rifts are spilling blood on the City beginning now, 12:00am EST Dec 7! It will last till the end of the event on 11:59pm EST Dec 8. Feel free to have your characters getting dripped or rained on! It's not all over the City so players can avoid having their houses stained if they want to. Vampires and other blood drinkers take note: the blood might make them sick, from minor tummyaches to vomiting 83]

Reports say the barrier around the City is breaking in places. Mostly at the perimeters of the island itself. People, myself included, doubt that what we see beyond it can be anything good or believable - especially when it shows us something like home.

But I live in the City proper and there's a rip in the barrier in my apartment.

I've gone home before. I know what it looks like. This feels right.

... I didn't push that button to make the trade, but it looks like I didn't have to, after all.

[A long, breathless pause; Holly doesn't know what to say.]

Three years here and I finally started to think this place felt like... like a home. [Quite chuckle.] That probably means it's time to go.

I think this might be it.

[ooc; This departure post will be open to comments as long as they keep on coming. Make your goodbyes if you so wish! Holly will miss this place and all of you.]

The horses were against the barrier.

Thread carefully against this place invisible bars.
I have no interest to leave.

What do you do when you have a structure that is beginning to break apart, that is no longer ethically or professionally sound?

You tear it down.

The barriers are breaking. I know. I'm the one who designed them.

The walls in the place aren't what they used to be, apparently don't stand up to the type of wear and tear your five fearless and crayons-in-hand leaders inflict on them. Material like this wasn't designed to handle so much abuse, let alone constant scribbling on the paint and wallpaper.

And what is that? That doesn't even look like a mountain.

There's only one solution: see paragraph [A].

Don't you all want to get home again?

[ooc: There's a reason we called this plot "The Architect." Ladies and gentlemen of the City, meet The Architect.]

Quickie Tips for Dealing with Carousel Menagerie Gone BAD:

Number One - Fiberglass; sledgehammer to a leg will slow it down.

Number Two - Got wood? Use fire and torch the head, blinding it.

Number Three - Brass rings grant free rides or wishes with good menagerie. On these baddies...like crosses are to vampires? Err, skip this tip.

Number Four - Use One or Two for buying yourself time to RUN LIKE HELL and HIDE!

Number Five - Skip Three or sign your own Death Warrant.

The Architect – Act II (The Barrier)

4-8; The Architect – Act II (The Barrier)
The Carousel animals have come to life and soon citizens will find out there's plenty more where they came from. The cheerful colorful creatures have only one thing in mind and that's to attack the button pushers and the curse victims from last month's event. Don't worry, they don't want to kill you, but they'll bite here or scratch there then speak the name of the cursed to the pusher or the pusher to the cursed before leaving. Leaving to attack—er...inform the next citizen that is. That's not the end of it though. The fun is only just beginning. [Stay tuned for more information on this event and yes characters can fight the Carousel animals off however the animals cannot be captured or killed.]

November Inactivity List

○ You have seven days to reclaim a character on this list, and in return, you promise three posts minimum instead of two for the next month, that's this DECEMBER.

○ For hiatus exemptions, I go off the Hiatus Notice Page, so, please, everyone, post there! [info]poly_tldr is all well and good, but I don't remember every post there- if you did one, link me and I'll get you covered, but PLEASE use the hiatus post.

○ I make mistakes, if you're listed as inactive and shouldn't be, just comment saying so, and I'll fix it, with my apologies.

○ If you've made the inactivity list twice with a character, (this also includes trying to use hiatus to cover more than one full month's activity), they're marked for removal in the "Second Strike" column. If you wish to reclaim this character, comment and drop me a line on AIM at [steelandpride] so we can talk about it one on one.

○ If a character on this list has been dropped, don't worry about it. The end results just end up on the remove page anyway.

Those who gave their names or nicknames on their applications and the Taken Character List as starting with A through K, please post here.

How's My Driving?
[PROCEED]

IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE! HMD, HMD! HOW'S MY DRIVING? PRETTY GOOD, RIGHT? AREN'T YOU THANKFUL?! GOBBLE IT UP, POLYCHROMATIDS~!!

Welcome back to our more seasoned members, and welcome to you first-timers.

HMD is the gamewide chance for feedback on playing here in [info]polychromatic.

And here's our philosophy on HMD: praise--it's all well and good (we all love it, yeah?), so if you want to give praise, love, ♥s, whatever, go for it! It's especially great to say what you ♥ so much about a character. For example, how they acted during X curse or Y plot was great, or how they adjusted (or didn't?) to the City was fascinating. But we all know, constructive crit is best when you're looking for advice on how to improve. What we really encourage here are questions. It gives you the chance to maybe understand something, (and maybe you think it makes sense after all now), and the player a chance to explain. For example:

"How did Gary get from Point A in canon to Point B in Poly? It didn't quite make sense to me."

"What started this whole fascination of Sue's with the bananas?"

And then you find out that there's a long, involved story that goes back six months involving the aftermath of a curse, a lizard, a pound of potatoes, a watermelon, three French maids, and a pogo stick. And then it all makes perfect sense.

Or perhaps it doesn't, but you've started a dialogue about the things you perceive versus the things the player perceives.

As decided by community vote, anon is not allowed here on the main HMD post, and IP logging is on. Sorry, Anon. However, we encourage posting a link to your own, personal, anon-enabled crit thread(s) if allowing anon is something you want to do and are comfortable with. But keep in mind that we moderators can't police those crit threads: not only are they anon, but they are on your own journals, and there are dozens of them. But we entreat members of this game to be polite and courteous, logged in or not. We will be watching the main post for any unrest, however, so keep that in mind. (We like to watch.) Let's all keep ourselves like civilized people, and have a decent time. Remember, no road rage in HMD.

To keep things organized, please post your comment in the following format*:

The general disclaimer, as usual, applies:

By choosing to post here on HMD, you may receive comments you don't necessarily enjoy. By posting here, you accept that this could happen, and you're basically okay with it. We will be monitoring this post for abuse and will shut down any instances of abuse we see. However, constructive crit, comments, or questions you just don't like do not count as abuse.

Whew. Now that that's all out of the way, have at it, [info]polychromatic!

*Please remember our requests regarding sparkles, images, embedded media, and other bits of coding. A little variation on the comment form is fine and tasty, and putting things like gifs or videos behind links or in collapsed threads is fine too, but please consider the loading time for others with slower connections. And take it easy on the placeholders: HMD isn't going anywhere.

And because it's apparently traditional for HMD posts to go up in the middle of the damn night, here we are. =_=v
